Te Mania Bloodlines Accelerate Angus Herd Success

When Brett Pointon and his team at Pointon Pastoral set out to establish a premium Angus herd, the plan was expected to take years. But in a game-changing move, they managed to secure a herd of 1000 commercial Te Mania blood Angus cows and calves from Victoria, accelerating their goal dramatically.

“In December, we managed to secure a herd of 1000 commercial Te Mania blood Angus cows and calves from Victoria, so that accelerated our game plan,” he said.

In just five months, what began as a five-year plan became reality — a strong testament to the impact that proven Te Mania Angus genetics can have in fast-tracking herd progress and laying the foundation for long-term productivity.

Queensland Country Life recently profiled Pointon Pastoral’s journey, highlighting how their shift to Angus — and the role of Te Mania Angus bloodlines — is shaping a profitable future.

Five year goal to get into Angus comes to fruition in five months

Brett Pointon’s five-year plan to get into Angus has become a reality in just five months, and he’s excited for the future.

As principal of Pointon Pastoral Company, Mr Pointon has a two pronged operation with aggregations in both the South Burnett and Surat regions of Queensland, running 2500 breeders as well as 3000 backgrounders.

Predominantly a Charbray producer in the past, Mr Pointon sat down late last year with his Pointon Pastoral managers Mandy McArthur and her partner Tom Emmery, who both have extensive experience in cattle management, genetics and farming, to decide on a plan of action moving forward.

Their goal was to establish a quality Angus herd using only the best genetics available.
