On Monday, 11 August, the Te Mania Angus team and guests gathered for the Northern Spring Bull Sale Pre-Sale BBQ Dinner — a well-established part of the lead-up to the sale. While the Northern Spring Bull Sale itself is now in its 19th year, this dinner has become a key opportunity to reconnect with local clients, welcome new faces, and share a meal ahead of the busy sale day.
The event was once again hosted at the Barwon Inn, where our director, Hamish McFarlane, opened the evening with a warm welcome to over 40 attendees. Among the guests was Wyn Snyman, Chief Executive Officer of AuctionsPlus, who joined us as a special guest speaker.
During his mid-dinner address, Wyn reflected on the long-term relationship between AuctionsPlus and Te Mania Angus. He acknowledged Te Mania’s position as one of the early adopters of online livestock selling, a step that aligns with both organisations’ focus on innovation. Wyn outlined AuctionsPlus’ mission to connect producers and buyers across Australia and the ongoing efforts to evolve livestock trading methods. He also shared insights on upcoming developments, including the promising concept of bloodline verification, which Te Mania looks forward to collaborating on.
The evening’s meal featured Rangers Valley Black Market steak, expertly prepared by James McCormack and Edward Gubbins, who kept the BBQ running smoothly throughout the night.
A close relationship between Rangers Valley and the Team Te Mania group is proving a valuable one for both parties.
Will Schmidt, from Rangers Valley feedlot in Glen Innes, NSW, said:
“Rangers Valley specialises in long-fed pure Black Angus and Wagyu cattle and has been a primary destination for Team Te Mania cattle for over 30 years. We highly value our long-term partnership, not only for the consistent quality of their cattle but also for their exceptional presence at the top end of marbling scores — with some cattle reaching a marble score of eight. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to breeding cattle that meet the highest industry standards and helps ensure both parties meet market expectations while supporting sustainable growth and profitability.”
Thanks to Amanda McFarlane and the Barwon Inn team for bringing the event together and providing a great setting.
We look forward to returning to Walgett in 2026 — continuing the tradition of good company, good food, and quality cattle.
