The David Plant Education Fund has been established in memory of the late David Plant, owner and founder of Southern Cross Genetics, mentor and friend to many in the Australian cattle industry.
David Plant, a pioneering figure of the Angus cattle industry, resolutely believed that “education was the great equaliser”. The fund has been established by The David Plant Education Scholarship, in conjunction with the Australian Beef Industry Foundation (ABIF)
David Plant established Southern Cross Genetics in 1991, a family owned and operated business specialising in the provision of cattle genetics and synchronisation programs across Australia. Over the following 27 years, David’s endearing passion and enthusiasm for genetics, and cattle more broadly, led him to become an esteemed member of the industry.
Above all, David’s desire to identify and mentor young men and women within the industry will remain his most enduring legacy.
With the aim of “Facilitating the pursuit of education and rewarding curiosity”, the David Plant Education Fund has been established to provide financial education assistance to individuals throughout the Australian Agriculture sector with a view of continuing David’s legacy. Donations to this fund will be directed to a pool of funds, with the yearly earnings generated being allocated to a scholarship awardee. The foundation steering committee will each year assess a group of scholarship applicants, with awarded funds covering specified criteria such as studies abroad, domestic tuition fees or industry projects. Donations to the David Plant Education Fund are fully tax deductible.
Please find below the banking details for the David Plant Education Fund. The fund will be administrated by the directors of the Australian Beef Industry Foundation – Education Fund on a pro bono basis. All donations over $2 will receive a tax deduction in the year of donation as the fund, under the ABIF – EF umbrella, has a deductible gift recipient status. ABIF – EF will provide receipts for donations and these will permit the donor to receive their tax deduction.
