Bulls sold to a top of $15,000 and average of $5285 at the Te Mania Angus Northern Spring Bull Sale at Walgett on Tuesday.

Seventy of the 85 bulls offered sold for a clearance of 82 per cent.

The McFarlane and Gubbins families had plenty of support from repeat clients, as well as a few new buyers to the stud.

Minnamurra Pastoral Company, which has properties in the Bylong Valley, Gunnedah, Walgett and Cunnamulla, was the volume buyer and also purchased the top-priced bull, Te Mania Hibbard.

The 24-month-old bull, by Tuwharetoa Regent from Te Mania Moongara, weighed 780 kilograms and had estimated breeding values of +5.7 for birthweight, +51 for 200-day weight, +94 for 400-day weight, +128 for 600-day weight and +3.7 for intramuscular fat.

He was one of 13 Tuwharetoa Regent sons sold in the sale for an average of $6961. Read the full report.
