Te Mania Kirby crowned king of the country as its highest marbling sire

ATTEND our bull sale preview at Beef Week on January 29 to see sons of Te Mania Kirby.

There is only one way to access the highest marbling genetics in the Australian beef industry – buy one of the 18 Te Mania Kirby K138 sons at the Te Mania Angus autumn on-property bull sale at its Mortlake headquarters on March 3.

With an intramuscular fat (IMF%) EBV of +7.3; Te Mania Kirby is ranked as the highest marbling Angus sire in Australia

Whose genetics are only used within the Te Mania Angus breeding herd and the Team Te Mania progeny program – and in sons in its bull sale catalogue.

Te Mania Angus director Tom Gubbins said producing the highest-marbling sire in the country is no accident.

Based on a gene pool stretching back to 1928, he said Te Mania Angus Australia and his family have been working hard for more than 30 years to once again show the stud has the best genetics to improve the profitability of its commercial clients.

“Kirby is a son of GAR Prophet, with balance and length, and he has been used heavily within the Te Mania Angus herd and throughout Team Te Mania progeny test herds,” Tom said.

“His IMF% at 7.3 is three times the breed average for this trait and in our 2020 autumn on-property bull sale, 23 Kirby sons were sold for a sire average of $11,565 and a sale high of $52,000,” he said.

“Feedlotters and processors pay premiums for animals that they can predict will marble better than others; so marbling genes in your herd will increase an individual animal’s value – it’s that simple.

“And don’t underestimate the power of his $index values either.”

Tom said the industry has been in an extraordinary bull market for the past 18 months, which has also created the perfect time in which to invest in the long-term future of your breeding enterprise.

“While bull markets don’t last forever; the genetics in your herd really do and if you get it wrong, it can take generations to correct – proven, cutting-edge genetics are the failsafe for any beef enterprise,” Tom added.

The Te Mania Angus autumn on-property bull sale at Reichmans Lane, Mortlake, on March 3 starts at 12pm.
